Jerome Robbins is world famous for his work as a choreographer of ballets as well as his work as a director and choreographer in theatre, movies and tv shows. He created ballets for New York City Ballet, which he joined in 1949, and became associate Artistic director with George Balanchine. He's also directed for television and films as well as his co-direction and choreography of West Side Story however, he got fired from the production after the photography was done but, the movie got 10 academic awards in which he won himself two. One being the 1961 Academy Award for best director with Robert Wise for west side story.
